The Russian military has unleashed another huge barrage of missile and drone strikes on Ukraine overnight, with over 50 missiles and approximately 500 attack drones fired at targets in nine different regions across the country, Ukrainian President Volodymy Zelensky said on Sunday.

At least four people were killed in Ukraine’s western Lviv region alone, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on Sunday morning, adding that another four people had been injured in a five-hour combined attack on the Lviv region. The strikes caused several fires in the city of Lviv itself, according to Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

In the country’s southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, one person was killed and 10 others were injured, according to Governor Ivan Fedorov, who added that dozens of residential buildings had also sustained damages in the strikes.

“Today, the Russians once again targeted our infrastructure — everything that ensures normal life for our people,” Zelensky wrote on X. “We need more protection and faster implementation of all defence agreements, especially on air defence, to deprive this aerial terror of any meaning.”

“A unilateral ceasefire in the skies is possible — and it is precisely that which could open the way to real diplomacy,” Zelensky continued, adding “America and Europe must act to make Putin stop.”
