Four teachers injured after stun grenade explodes during anti-terrorism drill at Russian school

Four people were injured when a stun grenade exploded at a school in the Moscow region during anti-terrorism drills on Tuesday, according to media outlets REN TV, Baza, and 112.

The incident reportedly occurred at School No. 21 in the village of Serkovo. During the drill, a stun grenade was thrown through a window of the school, where it landed on a table and exploded.

Four teachers were hurt, sustaining eye injuries and abrasions, according to media reports. Emergency services reported to the scene, and officials are investigating the incident.

The Moscow regional prosecutor’s office later confirmed the explosion and said it was launching an inquiry. Citing the regional health ministry, the outlet RBC also reported four people injured, saying three were taken to hospital and later referred for outpatient treatment.

The drill was part of a two-day series of anti-terrorism exercises that began Tuesday in schools and kindergartens across Russia. During the drills, children are made to lie face down on the floor or crouch, and in some cases weapons are pointed at them in a simulated hostage scenario.
